Dr. Hiller A. Spires and the New Literacies Collaborative (NLC) Team (see joined Suzhou North America High School as creative partners in October 2014. Dr. Spires serves as a Distinguished Graduate Professor and Senior Research Fellow at NC State University and the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, respectively.

Through the partnership, the NLC team provides: 

Leadership for the development and implementation of a teaching, learning, and technology plan and a continuous improvement plan, including curriculum frameworks, curriculum-aligned faculty evaluation protocols, and standardized student assessments for math and English.

Consultation on the physical and technological design of the school facility to ensure that it supports contemporary teaching and learning systems.

Connections to cross-cultural networks and additional global partners, including Wake STEM Early College High School and other innovative schools.

Professional development for leadership and educational staff.

Faculty recruitment services.

The NLC operates within the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, whose mission is "to advance education through innovation in teaching, learning, and leadership. Bringing together educational professionals, researchers, policy-makers, and other community members, the Friday Institute is a center for fostering collaborations to improve education. We conduct research, develop educational resources, provide professional development programs for educators, advocate to improve teaching and learning, and help inform policy-making."
